Junior Chamber International
Junior Chamber International is a worldwide federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs between the age of 18 to 40. Worldwide, there are almost 170,000 active JCI members and millions of JCI alumni. JCI members contribute to the advancement of the global community by creating positive changes in approximately 6,000 communities in more than 100 nations worldwide.
JCI’s mission is to contribute to the advancement of the global community by providing the opportunity for young people to develop the leadership skills, social responsibility, entrepreneurship and fellowship necessary to create positive change.
Junior Chamber International was founded in Mexico City on December 11, 1944, when representatives from eight nations met to create an organization that would address global concerns. From these eight nations, Junior Chamber has grown to include more than 110 nations and spans every continent.
As JCI members, we take initiative to solve local challenges. Not just focused on charity or service, we focus on sustainable impact locally and globally. It only takes one active citizen to change the world. Be that active citizen today.
The purpose of Junior Chamber, inspired by its Declaration of Principles:
To contribute to the advancement of the global community by providing the opportunity for young people to develop the leadership skills, social responsibility, entrepreneurship and fellowship necessary to create positive change.
The organization operates on the premise that the development of individual character and personality will result in communities that are better developed and, eventually, in a more peaceful world.
Most educational institutions focus on the passing of an examination and the amassing of degrees rather than the development of personalities. It is said the purpose of education is to prepare the individual for “life,” not just to be able to perform a job. Life is much more than just doing a job. Life is caring, sharing, loving, understanding and communicating.
