International chapters gathering by Alberto
On 12th of June, a sunny, warm Hungarian day, representatives of six chapters gathered together at JCI European Convention Headquarters in Budapest. It was a special day, not only for the wonderful location and for the amount of chapters but for the purpose of the meeting.
Six chapters like ours decided to get know each other, check-up how much we have in common and plant a seed for cooperation.
Behind the meeting there were plenty of planning time, preparations, expectations and happiness to meet all each other.
Participants were:
- JCI Megapol from Turkey
- JCI Expat Budatest from Hungary
- JCI The Heart of Europe from Belgium
- JCI International Amsterdam Intl from Holland
- JCI International Copenhagen from Denmark
- JCI Cosmopolis from Finland
Not bad, for a first time poll, right? ;-)
The presentations were focusing on the advantages and difficulties of a chapter with members of many different nations and also we had the chance share experiences from past and ongoing projects. We strongly believe that all of us got delighted and energized from the listed ideas and came out of the room with heads full with plans.
As we all agreed afterwards and you may guess as well, it was not especially easy to give an authentic picture about the chapters' everyday life in about 10 minutes. But thanks to the enthusiasm of the members (and those bottles of really nice Hungarian wines ;-)) the cheer of the event raised so high, that we agreed about a continuation in form of a dinner in the same day.
So just some hours later we were together again in a cute restaurant, and felt like knowing each other for a long-long time. Unnecessary to mention, that both the mood and food was fabulous. A worthy ending of a long preparation!
Hmmm... did I just say the word "ending" before? Sorry, it was a mistake; it is not the ending, but just the beginning!!!
Only the first steps are taken, and the real work is ahead of us: planning and working out an effective cooperation and utilize the benefits of the new links between the chapters!
